UPM plans significant restructuring to ensure the competitiveness of its Plywood and Timber operations in Finland. The target is to remarkably improve the businesses' long-term cost competitiveness and increase value added of the production in Finland. Co-operation negotiations with employees concerning the plans will start immediately.

Austrian National Prize Nomination for Wintersteiger AG
On October 22 the Austrian National Prize for "Design 2009" was awarded for the 38th time in the Museum Quarter, Vienna. In front of several hundred guests, State Secretary Christine Marek recognised Austria's creative industries for their services. The Austrian National Prize 2009 is awarded in a total of three different categories. WINTERSTEIGER was nominated in the category "Product Design of Investment Goods" and thus achieved a place among the top six.
